Bitterfeld-Wolfen (German pronunciation: [ˈbɪtɐfɛltˌvɔlfn̩] ) is a town in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated in south-east of the state, west of the river Mulde, in an area dominated by heavy industry and lignite mining. The town has a population of 36,592 as of 1 January 2025 and was formed by the merger of the towns of Bitterfeld and Wolfen and the municipalities of Greppin, Holzweißig and Thalheim on 1 July 2007.
