Morterone (Valassinese Lombard: Murterun) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Milan and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) northeast of Lecco. With a population of 33 people, it was considered the smallest of any comune (municipality) in Italy – in an area of 13.8 square kilometres (5.3 mi2).
