Szczawnica [ʂt͡ʂavˈɲit͡sa] is a resort town situated at the base of the Pieniny mountain range, within Nowy Targ County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. As of June 30, 2007, its population was 7,378. A well-known resort town since the mid-19th century century, many respiratory and digestive tract illnesses are treated in Szczawnica due to the presence of alkali sorrel springs.
